AJ---Abandonned Pup

I named this dog AJ.  My landlord found him wandering on the levy with a leash and a collar but no tags; no microchip either.  Being a dog lover, he asked if I would watch him until we found him a home.  Sounded good.  The shelter was full and wouldn't take him.  He ended up finding a new home with a friend of the landlord's neighbor.

Good Luck To AJ!  It was a Blessing crossing paths with you, AJ!

Welcome 2011 !

2011 Is Here!

I wanted to make sure and extend a big Thank You to every single one of you who have decided to follow my blog when you did not have to do so.  It really does mean a lot to me as I do put some thought into what I post for the world to see.  Afterall, it is a reflection on me.  Also, thank you for your comments.  I enjoy reading what you have to say.  It's a good feeling to know other people I have never met share my views.

October 31, 2010

While this post may not be of any interest to anyone whatsoever, I thought I'd mention the subject (again).  There were maybe 20 people total who showed up dressed in costumes for Halloween.  It was nice to see the toddlers and young kids.  However, I do have an issue with adults who dress up and go door-to-door for candy.  I was reluctant to open the door for some of them because they were not in costumes and looked like your every day gang-bangers.  If I had been home alone I would not have opened the door.  With two other women and one man in the house, as well as a dog and a fighsty cat nearby, I felt a little more secure.  They came with me to the door as it got later.  It's a shame to have thoughts running through your head along the lines of, "Gee, I hope no one pulls a gun on me when I open the door."

I spent my Halloween night playing Scrabble, nibbling on cheese and crackers, and being thankful I was not home alone on Halloween this year.

Halloween 2010

Halloween is tomorrow night.  It is cloudy and rainy right now, though I think it will be clearing up for the holiday.  This holiday, however, has seemed to have lost a lot of it's pizazz.  I remember when trick-or-treating was done after dark rather than during the afternoon at shopping malls.  It's a shame that society is in such a state that we fear trick-or-treating due to safety issues.

Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009)

Leading Actor:  Richard Gere.

Hachi: A Dog's Tale

This is a beautiful film...well told, good cinematography. Be prepared to cry. In short, it's about a man who befriends an abandonned puppy/dog. The dog forms such a strong bond with his owner (based on a true story) that the dog continues to wait for his owner at the train station where he caught the train to and from work--for ten plus years after the man's death. The dog dies peacefully in his sleep outdoors in the lightly falling snow, at his waiting place. The dog meets up with his owner upon death, in the afterlife.

This movie really drives home the point it is entirely possible for animals/pets to have emotions as strong as human beings.

Maintaining Your Blog.

It is very easy to create a blog, write a few posts, get sidetracked, and forget all about it.  Serious bloggers know this is a no-no; especially bloggers that post for advertisers.

A lot goes into creating and maintaining a successful blog.  While some people view blogs as unimportant and silly, others earn extra cash by staying on top of "it."

"It" is actually quite detailed.  One piece of information leads to another and yet another. There is so much more to "it" than simply typing out a few words, sitting back, and receiving countless readers like magic.  Heavy Internet users know gaining high traffic levels does not happen overnight.  Link exchanges may be helpful although they do not generate anywhere near the following that is needed for advertisers and common readers to take notice.  Free press releases is another avenue commonly used yet this method of traffic generation poses the same problem.  Exposure is limited.

One of the best ways of gaining traffic, and eyeballs that actually read past word number one, is to continue to write engaging text.  A lengthy history of quality information gains momentum and attention.  Bloggers that stick with it despite initial low traffic levels prevail over dusty, dated blogs that poke their heads out from the distant past during searches for antiquated information.

Maintain your blog, stay informed, and write well.

Career Decision.

Fifteen years after graduating high school, twelve years after going to college and getting my degree in legal office administration, I've finally decided on a career.  Actually, this has been an interest for a long time.  Maybe I should have done this in place of getting my AS degree, who know?  At any rate, everything happens for a reason, or so I choose to believe.   Thus, I am not going to kick myself (too hard) for not doing this the first time around.  The A.S. degree was for a fall-back career anyway.  However, I did work in law offices and did gain a valuable insight from working at those offices.

None the less, I was never really happy working as a peon in law offices.  So, I am going to get my license as a real estate broker/mortgage broker.  Sure, the economy is not exactly great right now, but it will pick up.  Everything has a cycle.  Long story short, you may see more posts related to the real estate field.  However, I will keep the theme of this blog general, including many topics.  This may not be what advertisers are looking for, but really, I would think advertisers would prefer blogs with general themes.  They have a better chance of getting their name out in front of a wider demographic.

Ok, that's it for this post.  Have a great day!

**Update 09/20-something/2010

I no longer think I will be going for my real estate license.  I can still acquire the knowledge; however, my interest is in buying and selling and for that I do not need a license.  This is just one of several things I am interested in.  Having said this, my interests are a world away from the 9-5 world.
